I'm currently doing my PhD in Interdisciplinary Design & Media in Northeastern University's College of Arts, Media & Design. I'm co-advised by Enrico Bertini and Melanie Tory. My research interests are primarily in data visualization, specifically in data physicalization and situated visualization. I'm particularly interested in how visualization interacts with craft and making and how we can make more interesting visualizations by working in different mediums. In an ideal world, these also help connect to more people and communicate information better to diverse audiences!
I graduated with my Bachelors in Science from the University of Chicago with a degree in Statistics and a minor in Visual Arts in 2018. While at UChicago, I scenic designed 9 full productions and worked on many more in various capacities. Afterward, I did some freelance scenic design and scenic painting in Chicago. Before starting my PhD, I worked for the Cook County government in Chicago as a Research Analyst.
I've had the great fortune to have my work exhibited at the Boston Cyberarts Gallery (Boston, MA), Moskow Linn Architects (Cambridge, MA) and the Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center (Solomons, MD).
Personally, I enjoy getting outside, going stand-up paddleboarding, working on my (many) arts & crafts hobbies, reading (fiction, I read enough non-fiction for my PhD), trying new baking projects, and finding excellent cups of tea at local cafes.
